(La Nouvelle République)-The city of Lomé will host the first African Air Transport Convention and Exhibition from June 15 to 19, 2026. Organized under the patronage of the Togolese government, the event is being led by the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC).
Held under the theme “One African Sky: Connectivity and Sustainable Air Transport Development,” the continental gathering aims to accelerate the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), a flagship initiative of the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The initiative seeks to strengthen air connectivity across the continent while reducing the cost of air travel for passengers and businesses.
The convention will bring together a broad range of key stakeholders, including heads of state, government ministers, civil aviation authorities, airline executives, airport operators, financial institutions, and technical partners. The objective is to foster structured dialogue between public and private sector actors, encouraging investment and policy reforms that can drive the growth of Africa’s aviation industry.
The program will feature high-level discussions, a continental policy forum, and technical workshops focusing on aviation infrastructure, safety, and regulatory development. An exhibition dedicated to innovation and sustainability will showcase emerging technologies and best practices shaping the future of African aviation.
In addition, business-to-business meetings and networking sessions will provide opportunities for participants to establish partnerships and advance concrete projects aimed at improving the continent’s air transport ecosystem.
By hosting this major event, Lomé further strengthens its position as a growing regional hub for dialogue, trade, and cooperation in West Africa. Supported by the modern infrastructure and connectivity of Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, the Togolese capital continues to enhance its appeal as a destination for major continental and international events.
