(La Nouvelle République)-As part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the Togo and the Rwanda, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, will undertake a working visit to Lomé on Monday, June 15, 2026.
The visit comes at the invitation of Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, within the framework of the 2026 African Air Transport Convention and Exhibition, a continental event focused on the development of Africa’s aviation sector.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Local Governance and Customary Affairs, the Rwandan Head of State will be received at the Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport.
Togolese authorities have instructed the mobilization of several state and local officials for the welcoming ceremony, including heads of republican institutions, designated government members, members of parliament and the senate, as well as local authorities from Greater Lomé, including the governor of the autonomous district, prefects of the Golfe and Agoè-Nyivé prefectures, mayors, and canton chiefs.
The reception arrangements are scheduled to be completed by 9:30 a.m., according to the communiqué signed in Lomé on June 14, 2026, by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Local Governance and Customary Affairs, Hodabalo Awate.
This working visit is part of a broader effort to deepen diplomatic relations between Kigali and Lomé, with a focus on aviation transport and continental integration.
